Hand-knotted rugs are inherently sustainable: no electricity, no machines, no synthetic processes. Just hands, time, and natural materials like virgin wool, cotton, or even silk, used for centuries.
In our Hamburg warehouse, each piece is inspected by hand, biologically washed, and restored if necessary before sale. A rug that lasts for decades is the most sustainable rug of all.
🏅 STEP – Sustainable Textile Production
10-point standard for fair production. Bindingly checks wages, working conditions, and excludes child labour.
🤝 CARE & FAIR
Educational and health projects for weaver communities. Because a fair rug means more than a clean certificate.
Hand-knotted rugs are robust and durable if you follow a few simple guidelines.
🧹 Vacuuming without a brush head, in the direction of the pile. Not across the fringes.
💧 Spills should be dabbed immediately with a damp cloth, never rubbed.
🚫 Do not use chemicals or harsh cleaners. Professional cleaning is recommended for stubborn stains.
☀️ Avoid direct sunlight to slow down the fading of natural colours.
📦 Storage should always be rolled, never folded. Store in a dry and ventilated place.

Questions & Answers
Kelim accessories are items such as cushion covers, poufs, laptop bags, table runners, and wall hangings that are made from genuine hand-woven Kelim rugs or textile remnants. Each piece is unique and carries the patterns, colours, and character of the original Kelim.
Yes. All our accessories are made from genuine hand-woven Kelim pieces. They are carefully cut, reinforced, and sewn to create functional and decorative products.
Each accessory comes from a different, unique Kelim, so no two pieces are identical. Patterns, colours, and textures vary, giving each product its own personality.
Yes. They are made from robust wool and/or cotton base fabrics. With reinforced seams and modern inner linings, they are sturdy enough for laptops and everyday items.
Washing in a washing machine is not recommended. Machine washing can distort the fabric or cause colours to fade. For heavy soiling, we recommend dry cleaning at a professional cleaner.
Yes. They are upcycled from vintage or leftover Kelims – a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious buyers.
Absolutely. Different patterns and colours – whether tribal, urban, or vintage – harmonise well together. Poufs, cushions, and laptop bags create an ethnic, boho, or eclectic look when combined.
Prices depend on the size of the original Kelim, the complexity of the pattern, the rarity of the colours, and the type of accessory.
Yes. Hand-woven Kelim wool is naturally soft and breathable. Poufs and cushion covers are filled or backed to provide comfort while preserving their authentic character.
Each accessory displays a fragment of the original Kelim, offering authentic motifs in miniature – sometimes bold, sometimes subtle.
Yes. They are sturdily constructed and filled, allowing them to function as seating, footstools, or decorative elements.
Thanks to the wool fibres, they are naturally slightly water-repellent, but we recommend avoiding heavy rain or using additional protection.
