Persian rugs are made from natural sheep wool. Therefore, a Persian rug is a sustainable and durable product by nature. However, regular cleaning of the rug supports its longevity. Here are a few tips and tricks:
- Vacuum the rug in the direction of the pile and turn it frequently. This keeps dust and dirt away. Did you know that vacuuming burns about 110 calories in 30 minutes? If you like, you can consider rug cleaning a small workout.
- Dust your rug! To free your rug from any dirt and particles, you should also "simply knock it out" in addition to vacuuming. This keeps the rug fresh and clean.
- Rugs are sensitive to daylight, meaning they can change colour over time if exposed to strong sunlight daily. Keep this in mind if you want to preserve the vibrant colours of your rug.
- If you spill something on your rug and it dries, remove it by gently scraping it towards the centre of the stain. For a wet stain caused by a drink, do not rub it with a towel. You might rub the dirt deeper into the pile. Gently blot up the liquid with paper towels.
