Belutch

198x104 cm
Offer2.637,00 zł

In the vicinity of the Iranian-Afghan border live various nomadic tribes of different origins, known as Belutch. They sustain themselves through agriculture, rug production, and the raising of sheep, goats, and camels. The rugs of the Belutch are closely related to Afghan and Turkmen rugs. They typically feature wide borders, often made from goat hair, and a short wool pile in dark brown and red, rust, blue, black, and brown. A Belutch rug is characterised by all-over geometric patterns, stylised flowers, and motifs such as "Gul" – a distinctive octagonal pattern. The rugs are of high quality and are usually dense, thin, and possess a flexible texture. They convey a sense of genuine nomadic craftsmanship. They are most often produced in smaller sizes and with a lively pattern. Belutch are frequently used as prayer rugs.
